Man walking in Nature

Lindsay Politowicz, MA, LLPC

I started my journey to becoming a therapist in an unlikely place: a television newsroom. Armed with an interest in people and their stories, and a bachelor’s degree in journalism, I was a producer for the local news for many years before switching careers to work in advertising. During my time in the ad world, my interest in psychology deepened. And while psychology, philosophy, and spiritual life were passions of mine, it was not until the birth of my first child that I set aside all the “shoulds” about life, and got my Master’s in Counseling with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health at Oakland University. When I completed that degree I began working at a group clinic in metro Detroit, gaining experience and training in trauma-informed counseling.

I am a mom, a licensed therapist, a yoga practitioner, and a lifelong seeker of wisdom and truth. As a therapist, I specialize in depression and anxiety, postpartum adjustment, life transitions, grief and loss. In each of these areas, I have my own personal experience that I draw from, as well as clinical training.

Irish singer/songwriter Dermot Kennedy wrote, “Your soul is yours, but I’ll help it move if I can.” A simple lyric, that for me, sums up my job as a therapist. I strive to create an environment free from judgment where we can explore what has happened in your life, what it’s like now, and where you want to go next. It will be your job to move your soul in the direction it needs to go, but I will do everything I can to help it.
